Caution must be exercised when purchasing an asset tracking solution that uses GPS trackers and RFID tags.


GPS

  • GPS batteries need continual maintenance and replacement

  • GPS Trackers require clear unobstructed access for transmission and reception

  • GPS Trackers must be in close proximity to a transmission source in order to identify location

  • GPS Trackers fail to transmit location when battery runs down

RFID

  • RFID Readers must be installed for tags to be read

  • RFID Tags must be applied to all assets being tracked

  • RFID Tags must be within close proximity for readers to identify the tag location

  • RFID Readers require hardware installation

  • RFID Tags do not work when out of range of reader
